Ensuring Canada’s Success!!!!!

Everyone, please listen to this post. I am basically discussing the success that the Liberal party has had and how they have helped Canada prosper with success.

Over the course of this campaign, Prime Minister Paul Martin has unveiled significant initiatives that represent his vision of the future of the country.

Building on our strong economic foundation, a new Liberal government will continue to provide budgets with balance, where future surpluses will be equally divided into progressive tax cuts putting more money back into the pockets of Canadians, social programs which make up the very fabric of our nation, and debt reduction so that we do not pass its financial burden onto future generations.

Thanks to the Liberal Tax Plan, Canadians are now keeping more of the money they earn. Building on the $22 billion in taxes cut in the 2005 budget, our tax reductions will not only provide real relief to all taxpayers, but also mean that many Canadians will not longer have to pay federal income tax. Our plan removes as many 860,000 off the tax rolls completely, including 250,000 low-income seniors.

In order to succeed in the 21st century global environment, a commitment to lifelong learning is essential. That is why our Liberal government will make early learning and child care permanent with a $6-billion addition to our national child care program. This new money will finance the program through to 2015, providing provinces and territories with the certainty they need to expand their investments.

The Liberal government is also committed to ensuring that everyone should have the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education. Our 50/50 Plan will allow any student pursuing a first undergraduate degree or diploma in Canada to receive direct payments – up to a maximum of $3,000 – to cover half of their tuition fees, when they most need the support: as they embark on their first year of studies, and as they prepare to graduate.

A publicly funded national health care system has always been a priority for Liberals. As part of our 10-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care, we have provided funding of $5.5 billion to achieve meaningful reductions in wait times in priority areas such as cancer, heart, diagnostic imaging, joint replacements and sight restoration. Canadians have already begun to see results. In British Columbia, the median wait time for starting cancer radiation treatment is now less than a week. In Ontario, federal funding has been allocated for an additional 42,000 medical procedures to be made possible this year.

Working with patients, health care providers and governments, a new Liberal government will act to ensure Canadians get the care they need, where they live, within medically-accepted timeframes. If this is not possible, a Liberal Health Care Guarantee Fund will be able to assist patients and a family member with travel and accommodation costs to receive treatment in a public facility in another province in order for them to obtain timely care. We are also investing in homecare services and will work with the provinces and territories to develop a National Pharmaceuticals Strategy.

Every year thousands of people from all over the world choose to make Canada their home. Our government is continuing to make significant strategic investments to help immigrants flourish in the Canadian labour market, and build a highly skilled and adaptable workforce. A new Liberal government will further help new Canadians realise their full potential by speeding up the recognition of foreign credentials and eliminating the landing fee for people who wish to establish permanent residence in Canada.

Paul Martin will also address the escalation of gun violence in Canadian cities with an immediate ban on handguns. As part of a five-part strategy to make our communities safer, Prime Minister Martin has pledged to also toughen penalties for gun crimes, establish a $50-million Gun Violence and Gang Prevention Fund for community-based programs and invest in law enforcement.

The successes that Liberals cherish today – the creation of our public health care system; bilingualism; multiculturalism; the Charter of Rights and Freedoms; the restoration of fiscal order – did not come about by chance. They are an extension of the values that set us apart from our political opponents and that guide our actions.

The Liberal government has a vision for a Canada that will meet the challenges of the global economy, a Canada that will celebrate diversity and a Canada that will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. On Monday, January 23rd, vote Liberal and choose this Canada.

Please listen to this message and keep this positive message in mind when you go to vote tommorow.
