MEDIA BIAS IN 2006 FEDERAL ELECTION??

Well, my opinion regarding media bias in the 2006 election was there was alot of it present. I cannot really write much right now because I am a little busy tonight but all I would like to say for now is that the media may have swayed the undecided voters to end up voting Conservative thus having them win a minority government.

I will write in the near future more specific details in why I think the media was responsible in having people vote Conservative. Please feel free to comment on what your opinion is on this topic, bye.

COULD FRANK MCKENNA BE THE NEXT LIBERAL LEADER???

Well, the long list of liberal leader hopefuls has been growing. In my opinion Frank Mckenna and Brian Tobin may have the best chance and may in fact be the best choices. They were both former premiers and are great leaders. Speaking of former premier, Bob Rae is also said to be in the running. Also great former goalie Ken Dryden also threw his name into the hat of liberal leader hopefuls. The billion dollar princess Belinda will also be in the running, as well as Manley. The former Harvard professor Mr. Ignatieff is thought of as maybe the next Trudeau. All I gotta to say is the next leadership convention will be a lot of fun and I hope whoever wins will be a great leader for the liberals.

A sign of things just starting off for Frank Mckenna on his road to liberal leader began today.

Frank McKenna, Canada's ambassador to the United States, has resigned. He informed prime minister-designate Stephen Harper of his decision on Tuesday, Canadian Embassy officials in Washington said Wednesday.

In his two-page letter to Harper, McKenna asked to be relieved of his duty, adding he shared a mutual commitment to Canada with Harper and that he would have had no difficulty working with a Conservative government.

However, "he believes that it would compromise the position of the ambassadorship" were he to stay on, CTV's Joy Malbon -- who obtained a copy of the letter -- said on Newsnet's Mike Duffy Live.

Earlier Wednesday in Washington, McKenna brushed off the question when reporters asked him about his future.Prime Minister Paul Martin appointed McKenna to the important diplomatic post just less than a year ago.

However, Martin's Liberals were defeated in Monday's election, leading Martin to announce he was quitting as Liberal Party leader.

This started speculation almost immediately that McKenna, a former Liberal premier of New Brunswick, might seek the federal leadership himself.

"I'm not sure he's going to run for the leadership," journalist L. Ian McDonald told Newsnet, noting the Liberal Party is heavily in debt.

"He had a very good commercial law practice in Toronto before. He may want to return to that," McDonald said of McKenna. In addition, observers say that Harper might have wanted to have his own man in Washington in any event, putting McKenna's longer-term future in doubt.

Besides McKenna, some are wondering whether Allan Rock, a former Liberal cabinet minister, is long for his position as Canada's ambassador to the United Nations.

According to a Wednesday report in the Globe and Mail, Rock resisted a pro-Israel shift in policy by Martin, and the Conservatives are likely to be even more pro-Israeli. Rock himself wanted to seek the Liberal Party's leadership, but he gave up when it became clear Martin had too much of a head start.

In terms of replacing McKenna, McDonald said rumours of former Reform Party leader Preston Manning getting the job were a "non-starter."Another rumour is that Michael Wilson, finance minister in the Progressive Conservative government of Brian Mulroney, might be a candidate, said CTV's Mike Duffy.

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, a Liberal, said Harper must take care in filling the position, noting that 90 per cent of his province's exports go to the United States.

CONGRATS ON A GREAT POLITICAL CAREER MR. PAUL MARTIN!!!!!

A great 18 years in the public life is over. Paul Martin is no longer the leader of the Liberals and alot of people were predicting this from the outset. Even if there was a liberal minority win then he probably would have stepped down as well. However, that did not happen and it did not go out on top like alot of us would have loved if he did.

The Right Honourable Paul Edgar Philippe Martin, PC, MP, BA, LLB (born August 28, 1938, in Windsor, Ontario) took office on December 12, 2003 as the twenty-first Prime Minister of Canada.

In 1988, Martin was elected as the Member of Parliament for the electoral district of LaSalle-Émard in Montreal. He was a candidate at the 1990 Liberal leadership convention, losing to Jean Chrétien in a bitter race that resulted in lasting animosity between the two men and their supporters. Nonetheless, the Liberal Party won the 1993 election and Martin was appointed minister of finance by the new prime minister, Jean Chrétien. At the time, Canada had one of the highest annual deficits of the G7 countries. As finance minister, Martin erased a $42 billion deficit, recorded five consecutive budget surpluses, paid down $36 billion, and cut taxes cumulatively by $100 billion over 5 years, making it the largest tax cut in Canadian history.

During his tenure as finance minister, Martin was responsible for lowering Canada's debt-to-GDP ratio from a peak of seventy per cent to about fifty per cent in the mid-1990s. In December 2001, he was named as a member of the World Economic Forum's "dream cabinet." The global business and financial body listed Martin along with United States Secretary of State Colin Powell and United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan as top world leaders.

Also during his tenure as finance minister, Martin coordinated a series of meetings between the finance ministers of all provinces to discuss how to address the pending crisis in the Canada Pension Plan (CPP). Consequently, Martin oversaw the creation of a general public consultation process in February 1996 that eventually led to major structural reform of the CPP. The results of this public consultation process were collected and analyzed by the Finance ministry. Eventually, it led to a proposal for overhauling the CPP, which was presented to Parliament and was approved soon after, thereby averting a pension crisis if left unaddressed.

While Martin's record as finance minister was lauded in business and financial circles, there were undeniable costs. Some of these costs took the form of reduced government services. This was most noticeable in the Health Care sector, as major reductions in federal funding to the provinces meant significant cuts in service delivery. Moreover, there were cuts in government services across the board, affecting the operations and achievement of the mandate of most federal departments. Critics point out that Martin's actions as finance minister were consistent with a neoliberal agenda. Nevertheless, it must be borne in mind that while Martin held an influential position within the government and the Liberal Party of Canada, his actions as finance minister were very much part of his party's program.

Prime Minister Chrétien and Martin frequently clashed while in office. It was often reported that Chrétien had never forgiven Martin for running against him in the Liberal leadership convention of 1990, and privately often condemned Martin in bitter terms to his aides. Some suggested that if Martin was not promised the Finance portfolio in the event of the Liberals 1993 election victory, Martin would have resigned, splitting the Liberal Party. In fact, Jean Lapierre who was a staunch supporter of Martin wore black armbands at the 1990 Liberal Party convention to protest Chretien's victory. Lapierre then crossed the floor to the newly formed Bloc Québécois party in the House of Commons. After Chrétien's third electoral victory in the 2000 election, there was much speculation in the media and in Ottawa that Martin was after Chrétien's job and wanted to force the prime minister into early retirement.

The conflicts between the two men reached a peak in 2002. Martin was removed from Cabinet, and was replaced by John Manley as Finance Minister. Soon after, Martin formally declared his intention to run as leader of the Liberal Party at the next party convention. Over the summer of 2002, Martin toured the country campaigning to succeed Chrétien while his Liberal organizers prepared to challenge Chrétien's leadership during a review vote in January 2003. During the fall, Chrétien announced that he would resign in the spring of 2004 after less than half of caucus agreed to sign a commitment to support him. The Liberal party called a leadership convention for the fall of 2003.

After that, Martin's opponents for leadership quickly dropped out of the race. On September 21, 2003, he easily defeated his sole remaining opponent, former Deputy Prime Minister Sheila Copps by securing ninety-two per cent of the party delegates from across the country. On November 14, 2003, he was formally declared the winner at the Liberal leadership convention, capturing 3,242 of 3,455 votes. On December 12, 2003, he was appointed by Governor General Adrienne Clarkson as the twenty-first Prime Minister of Canada.

With all that positive discussion done on Martin, I will now leave this post without getting into the controversey that helped take down the liberal government. Please everyone, when you remember Paul Martin, please remember him as a great politician who was an amazing liberal party leader, I met him and shook his hand at a rally, I really enjoyed how he got the crowd in the room so fired up and inspired!!

CHANGING OF THE GUARD

Well, its all over with regards to Election 2006. The Conservative party of Canada has won and will form a minority government. It is sad to see that people in Canada actually believed what Harper was saying, the whole election he tried to seem central even though he was still very much and still is extreme right.

Well, alot of Ontario went Blue but not good old Toronto. Toronto was not fooled by Harper, we are way to smart for that, I admire Toronto for not getting caught up in the whole change theme. Liberal reign is still strong in Toronto. We kept all the liberal seats in TO, even the intense battle was won by Maria Minna in the Beaches-East York. However, we did lose the services of Tony Ianno, he was great and will be missed in Trinity-Spadina. It seems the speeches Jack Layton kept on saying did not work out the amount he wanted or thought. Even good old George W Harper thought that Canada might go blue in a majority sense, dream on Conservative fans, it will be liberal soon enough. Just keep the seats warm in the cabinet so when the liberals return they can reclaim there government.

A warning to Harper, be careful on forming a coalition with the Bloc because you did say you were a federalist party so what the hell would it look like to Quebec if you did not keep your word. Its your only hope in this minority government, its going to be interesting to see the liberals asking questions from the opposition side of the house, of course the Conservatives will be ducking the questions like they did during the election campaign. Haha, its going to be a tough ride for you blue people, no way the liberals or NDP will form a coalition. Remember, you do not have a majority government. Stay to the center like you said you would Harper, remember the first day of the next election campaign begins today. Be careful on who you put in cabinet, so much decisions for an inexperienced Harper to make.

Well, my libeals have been defeated fair and square, I will be posting two more times within the next hour regarding Paul Martin stepping down and also basically discuss why the liberals lost!

BATTLEGROUND BRITISH COLUMBIA!!!!

My very last pitch before polls close tonight, I need BC to realize that we can still stop the Conservatives from coming into power. Please, if you vote Liberal and do not vote NDP or Conservative then you will prevent the Conservatives from taking power in Canada. Believe me BC, do not vote NDP because Jack Layton basically did not campaign for the NDP that well, plus if you vote NDP then you are basically saying here Harper take Canada, with Liberals winning in BC, the Liberals can still win overall.

Please if you have not voted tonight then keep this in mind, please BC you can still stop George W Harper from winning. Just simply vote Liberals.

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!

On January 23, Voters will Choose the Canada They Want!!!!

This will probably be my last plea, I basically want all Canadians to reflect upon what these Conservatives stand for compared to the Liberals. Its a value difference election, the liberals believe in women rights, the Conservatives like Peter Mackay poke fun at women. The liberals want to have income tax cuts, the Conservatives would like to increase income tax. The liberals care about the environment and climate change, the Conservatives like our Republican neighbors do not really care about climate change.

This election is about our values. It is about the kind of Canada we believe in; the kind of Canada we want.

On the one hand, we have Conservative Leader Stephen Harper offering a socially conservative agenda with tax cuts for the wealthy and extreme right-wing views on the social values that Canadians hold dear.

Mr. Harper is offering an agenda that would cancel national child care; that would open talks with the U.S. to join ballistic missile defence; that would pull out of the Kyoto Accord; and that would scrap our national commitment to help raise Aboriginal Canadians out of poverty.
Mr. Harper sees the Supreme Court as an obstacle to him implementing his neo-conservative views. There’s only one way in which the courts in this country would do this, and that's in their defence of the Charter of Rights. This defence applies to same-sex marriage. It applies to a woman's right to choose. And it applies to the vast range of rights Canadians value.

These are rights Mr. Harper doesn’t seem to think too much of. He makes no promises that we won’t re-open the decades-old debate on a woman’s right to choose or take away equality rights by repealing same-sex marriage.

Mr. Harper claims a commitment to accountability as his number one virtue, but refuses to be accountable for how he’d find $22 billion to make up for the shortfall in his platform.
The Conservative platform states that they will eliminate the capital gains tax for certain individuals, which would create a tax loophole that would provide a $6-billion benefit to the wealthiest one percent of Canadians over the next five years. And particularly appalling is that while providing this tax break for the wealthy, the

Conservatives will roll back Liberal tax cuts for low and middle-income Canadians and force them to write a cheque to the government for the difference. In fact, the entire Conservative platform is at best confused, at worst deceptive. The Conference Board of Canada, hired by the Conservatives to verify their platform, was forced to concede it could no longer stand by its costing because it was not given all the numbers. Specifically, the party’s health care guarantee and its promise to redress the so-called “fiscal imbalance” between Ottawa and the provinces were not included.

Canadians have to ask themselves how can they trust a party to govern that is either incompetent or deceitful. NDP Leader Jack Layton claims that he believes in a Canada that is strong and caring, one where no one is left behind. And yet, this campaign has seen Mr. Layton abandon these principles in his quest for power.

Mr. Layton claims to value the environment, our social programs and our commitments to Aboriginals. He claims to be in favour of an independent foreign policy for Canada, of a woman’s right to choose, of equality rights for all Canadians. And yet, when it comes to taking issue with the Conservatives on these fundamental NDP values, Mr. Layton has been silent. He has all but ignored Stephen Harper – he who supposedly takes positions that are opposed to the NDP.

When the time has come to fight for issues that progressive voters believe in, Jack Layton has taken a pass. In the fight against a party that opposes Kyoto and Canada's commitment to climate change, that wants to repeal same-sex marriage and hold a free vote on a woman's right to choose, that wants to scrap national child care and replace it with a tax cut, Jack Layton has taken a pass.

We have to wonder what his real principles are. He would rather risk Stephen Harper's success than be faithful to his own party's principles. But even more than that, Mr. Layton has repeatedly pledged to work with a Stephen Harper government.

You're either for progressive social and economic policies, or you’re not. Contrary to what Jack Layton apparently believes, you can not have it both ways.

As for Gilles Duceppe and his Bloc Quebecois, they continue to put their separatist ideology ahead of the interests of Quebec.

The fundamental choice facing Canadians in this election campaign is between two leaders with two profoundly different ideas of what Canada should be – two different notions of the values we should carry into the future.

Mr. Harper has said that when he is done with changing Canada, we won’t recognize it – and he means it. He seeks to move us toward a Canada where people are forced to fend for themselves.
Mr. Layton has proven that his own political ambition is more important to him than standing up for progressive values.

Prime Minister Paul Martin believes in what we can achieve when we strive together as a society toward a common good. His vision of Canada is one that is faithful to Canadians’ values and the values on which this country was built.

Only the Liberals will serve the values of progressive voters.
In the fight for environmental sustainability, for a ban on handguns, for a new deal for our cities, for public health care, for child care and for lower tuition, Prime Minister Martin never takes a pass.

There is only one leader who will lower personal income taxes for middle-income families, who will speak with an independent voice on the international stage and who will honour our commitment to help Aboriginals out of poverty.

There's only one leader who will keep Canada's commitment to the world on Kyoto and fight to combat climate change.During this campaign, we’ve seen a Conservative leader willing to undermine the successes we’ve built as a nation with irresponsible tax cuts.

Liberals know that the social fabric that binds and protects Canadians is not enhanced by ill-targeted tax cuts that favour the wealthy at the expense of average Canadians.

A Liberal government will continue to govern according to Canada’s values, to act upon our national objectives, with the goal of making our hopes and dreams a reality and ensuring that our quality of life is second to none.

Alright, Canadian voters, I plea to you when you go to the election booth tommorow please do not vote for the Conservative and please direct your vote to the Liberl party, the values of the liberals reflect more of Canadian values than the Conservatives do, please lets not wake up on Tuesday to a radical different Canada where George W Harper is in charge!!!

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!

Ensuring Canada’s Success!!!!!

Everyone, please listen to this post. I am basically discussing the success that the Liberal party has had and how they have helped Canada prosper with success.

Over the course of this campaign, Prime Minister Paul Martin has unveiled significant initiatives that represent his vision of the future of the country.

Building on our strong economic foundation, a new Liberal government will continue to provide budgets with balance, where future surpluses will be equally divided into progressive tax cuts putting more money back into the pockets of Canadians, social programs which make up the very fabric of our nation, and debt reduction so that we do not pass its financial burden onto future generations.

Thanks to the Liberal Tax Plan, Canadians are now keeping more of the money they earn. Building on the $22 billion in taxes cut in the 2005 budget, our tax reductions will not only provide real relief to all taxpayers, but also mean that many Canadians will not longer have to pay federal income tax. Our plan removes as many 860,000 off the tax rolls completely, including 250,000 low-income seniors.

In order to succeed in the 21st century global environment, a commitment to lifelong learning is essential. That is why our Liberal government will make early learning and child care permanent with a $6-billion addition to our national child care program. This new money will finance the program through to 2015, providing provinces and territories with the certainty they need to expand their investments.

The Liberal government is also committed to ensuring that everyone should have the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education. Our 50/50 Plan will allow any student pursuing a first undergraduate degree or diploma in Canada to receive direct payments – up to a maximum of $3,000 – to cover half of their tuition fees, when they most need the support: as they embark on their first year of studies, and as they prepare to graduate.

A publicly funded national health care system has always been a priority for Liberals. As part of our 10-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care, we have provided funding of $5.5 billion to achieve meaningful reductions in wait times in priority areas such as cancer, heart, diagnostic imaging, joint replacements and sight restoration. Canadians have already begun to see results. In British Columbia, the median wait time for starting cancer radiation treatment is now less than a week. In Ontario, federal funding has been allocated for an additional 42,000 medical procedures to be made possible this year.

Working with patients, health care providers and governments, a new Liberal government will act to ensure Canadians get the care they need, where they live, within medically-accepted timeframes. If this is not possible, a Liberal Health Care Guarantee Fund will be able to assist patients and a family member with travel and accommodation costs to receive treatment in a public facility in another province in order for them to obtain timely care. We are also investing in homecare services and will work with the provinces and territories to develop a National Pharmaceuticals Strategy.

Every year thousands of people from all over the world choose to make Canada their home. Our government is continuing to make significant strategic investments to help immigrants flourish in the Canadian labour market, and build a highly skilled and adaptable workforce. A new Liberal government will further help new Canadians realise their full potential by speeding up the recognition of foreign credentials and eliminating the landing fee for people who wish to establish permanent residence in Canada.

Paul Martin will also address the escalation of gun violence in Canadian cities with an immediate ban on handguns. As part of a five-part strategy to make our communities safer, Prime Minister Martin has pledged to also toughen penalties for gun crimes, establish a $50-million Gun Violence and Gang Prevention Fund for community-based programs and invest in law enforcement.

The successes that Liberals cherish today – the creation of our public health care system; bilingualism; multiculturalism; the Charter of Rights and Freedoms; the restoration of fiscal order – did not come about by chance. They are an extension of the values that set us apart from our political opponents and that guide our actions.

The Liberal government has a vision for a Canada that will meet the challenges of the global economy, a Canada that will celebrate diversity and a Canada that will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. On Monday, January 23rd, vote Liberal and choose this Canada.

Please listen to this message and keep this positive message in mind when you go to vote tommorow.

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!!!!!!

The Paul Martin Liberal Government: Working for Canada!!!!

This post will discuss how Paul Martin was able to accomplish key items during his term as Prime Minister. Please keep these accomplishments of the liberal party in mind when you head to the voting booth.

There is nothing minor about the achievements of the Paul Martin Liberal government. During the life of this minority government, we have launched new social programs, provided tax relief for Canadians, and promoted an independent foreign policy that makes Canada a leader in the world.

Key among the accomplishments the Paul Martin Liberal government has made are:

A Strong Economic Foundation

Building on the economic achievements of more than a decade of Liberal government, we have maintained strong growth in the Canadian economy, including eight consecutive balanced budgets, $61.4 billion shaved off the debt and provided more than $100 billion in tax cuts.

Under our government, the national unemployment rate fell to 6.6 per cent, the lowest rate in 30 years. In addition, average hourly wages have risen by 3.9 per cent over the past year, which is more than the 3.4 per cent year-over-year increase in inflation.

Sustainable, Universal Health Care

Our Liberal government is committed to strengthening national, universal health care in Canada. Our Canadian Public Health Care Protection Initiative will:
Ensure that any future dedicated health care funding investment will be solely for use within the public health care system;

Eliminate the practice of double-dipping by doctors; and
Track the patterns and activities within our health care system -so that when we act, we can act on the basis of facts and not politics.

Taken together with last year's Health Accord - our 10 year, $41 billion plan to strengthen public health care and its agreement to cut wait times for key medical procedures - the Liberal government is taking the most aggressive approach to protecting and enhancing public health care since the passage of the Canada Health Act.

A National Child Care Initiative

Canadians want a national early learning and child care program which will provide real choices for Canadian families. We are working with the provinces and territories to deliver this new funding and create new high-quality, affordable childcare spaces.

To date, 10 provinces have signed agreements that will help them meet their own unique needs for early learning and childcare programs. A new Liberal government will remain firmly committed to ensuring that families are able to make the choices that work for them.

New Deal for Cities and Communities

We recognize the key role Canada’s cities and communities play in helping Canadians achieve their goals and dreams. That is why we remain firmly committed to our New Deal for Cities and Communities, which transfers funds to Canadian municipalities to help address the infrastructure deficit and gives them a voice at the federal table.

In the past 18 months, we have signed agreements to share gas tax revenues have been with 12 provinces and territories across Canada and delivered a 100 per cent GST rebate to municipalities, which will amount to $7 billion in savings over the next 10 years for all municipalities.

Respecting our Environment

This government recognizes the importance of continuing to make investments to protect and preserve our rich inheritance of land, water and wildlife, as well as addressing the reality of global climate change.

Our “Project Green” initiative will cut greenhouse gas emissions while creating a stronger and more competitive economy. The plan includes more than $2 billion in tax and production incentives to increase the development of renewable power sources such as wind, small hydro and solar energy.

A Role of Pride and Influence in the World

Canada is recognized the word over as a strong and generous global citizen.
This Liberal government has worked hard to put in place the policies that will make sure our influence in the world continues to be a source of pride for Canadians.

We have committed to doubling our international assistance funding by 2010-11 from its 2001-02 level. We are also providing nearly $13 billion in new money for defence – the largest single increase in the last 20 years. This includes funding for some 8,000 extra Canadian Forces personnel, operational sustainability, and the acquisition of new equipment.

Building on the strong foundation of more than a decade of Liberal governments, Paul Martin’s Liberals have been able to promote initiatives that will benefit Canadians from all walks of life. By strengthening our social framework, protecting our environment, promoting fiscal policies that grow our economy and showing leadership on the global stage, the Liberal government is working for the Canada that Canadians want.

With all this stated, I would like you to realize that the Liberal party did alot for Canada and given a mandate we will alot more, please when you vote tommorow please vote for the Liberal party, thank you.

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!!

CONSERVATIVES WANT VOTE SPLITTING!!!

Well, it seems Conservatives are encouraging people to vote NDP because they want the vote to be split. They want Canadian voters to vote NDP instead of voting Liberal. Please Canadian voters, only vote for the NDP if you really need to and more importantly only vote for the NDP if they actually have a chance in the riding. Please if the battle is between the Conservatives and Liberals then please do not vote for the NDP because that would be splitting the vote, please vote for the Liberals.

Again, my Canadian voters, I urge you to vote Liberal because we need to stop Harper and his extreme right wing beliefs from coming to power. George W Harper will make Canada George W Bush best friend, we will be sent to Iraq for no apparent reason, we will be sent to all different places because Harper thinks like the Republicans do in the USA. On January 23rd, 2006 vote for the Liberals and prevent our parliament from having such a prime minister who does not believe in a social safety net, abortion rights and same sex rights.

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!!!!

Harper's Conservatives Reflect U.S. Right-Wing Values!!!!

Well, its like I and the whole liberal party have been saying for months. If Harper is elected then he will become George W Harpers best friend and this post will reflect upon that thought, please read this post and keep in mind what the message is that is been conveyed to Canadian voters.

Prime Minister Paul Martin today characterized Stephen Harper’s Conservative party as a Northern version of the extreme U.S. conservative movement. “We have a party that basically draws its influences from the furthest right of the U.S. conservative movement,” the Prime Minister told cheering supporters during a campaign stop in Brampton.

“Let me tell you, Stephen Harper, we have our own values in Canada of compassion, generosity and understanding and respect from each other and we don’t have to borrow from the furthest right in the U.S. conservative movement.”

The Prime Minister made clear that Mr. Harper’s Conservative party does not embrace the principles of the now defunct Progressive Conservative party, whose leadership featured such moderates as Robert Stanfield and Joe Clark.

“What we have got now is some kind of a rehashed version of what Preston Manning left or a dolled up version of Stockwell Day’s Canadian Alliance,” said the Prime Minister, referring to the hard-right grassroots parties where Mr. Harper played a formative role.

“I can think of a government that it reminds me of. A government that you knew well in Ontario – and that was Mike Harris’ government,” added the Prime Minister.

“Stephen Harper has shown in the last few days that he had a social agenda of the extreme right,” the Prime Minister said in a fiery speech to several hundred supporters in a campaign stop in St. John’s Newfoundland yesterday.

The Prime Minister pointed to Mr. Harper’s recent comments attacking the impartiality of the judiciary and suggesting they would be an obstacle to “absolute power” should a Conservative government be elected.

He also singled Mr. Harper’s dismissal of a woman’s right to choose as “too complex to explain” during an election campaign.

Again, please keep this in mind when you go to vote tommorow as we need to stop the Conservatives from taking power and we need to stop Harper from coming into power where his views will reflect US Right Wing Values, please keep this all in mind on January 23rd, 2006 and vote Liberal.

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!

DO NOT THROW YOUR VOTE AWAY, DO NOT VOTE NDP!!!!

Please, as this title states, do not throw your vote away by voting for the NDP or the Green party, we need to stop the Conservatives so please vote for the liberal party, as I have clearly said before DO NOT VOTE CONSERVATIVE. Please do not vote NDP either because we need to stop the Conservatives and only the liberals can stop them, we need another liberal government in power.

The Prime Minister said NDP Leader Jack Layton has sacrificed the interests of progressive voters in favour of his own narrow partisan interests.

“Jack Layton abandoned the fight for the progressive forces before he began. He spent this whole campaign telling anybody who will listen that he can work with a Stephen Harper government,” the Prime Minister said.

“I say to Jack Layton if you're not willing to take the fight to Stephen Harper, then move over, because I am.” The Prime Minister said that leaves the Liberal party as the only alternative to Mr. Harper’s extreme right-wing agenda.

“To Canadian men and women I'm saying the same thing. Liberal party is the only one that can stop him,” he said. “I believe that there is no limit to what we can do together. So if you believe in a political party that believes in this economic success, equality of choice, the Liberal party should be your choice.”

Prime Minister Martin said that now is the time for Canadians to choose their Canada.
“That is what this election is all about. It is about our values. It is about the kind of Canada we believe in,” said the Prime Minister.

“I'll tell about my Canada. I believe in protecting rights. I believe in standing up for the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. And I believe in protecting the rights of all Canadians, all the time. And I believe in the strength of our judiciary,” he said.

“I believe in a Canada with a strong economy. We pay down debt, we reduce taxes for the middle class. I believe in a Canada that has a foreign policy all of its own, one that is based on our values and our interests, not a foreign policy made in some other country.”

Stephen Harper has said that if elected, one of his first commitments would be to cancel the national child care program, the first new national social program in a generation.
He is prepared to break his word to the child care workers, to the families and to the provinces of this country. And he would break his word to the United Nations on Kyoto.

The Prime Minister urged Canadians to think twice before casting their ballots, saying “Use your vote to stop Stephen Harper. Use your vote to elect a prime minister who will protect your interests. Vote for your Canada. Let me just say to you that we Liberals are on a march and we are marching towards a remarkable comeback,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister pointed out that if Canadians say no to Stephen Harper, then Stephen Harper will be stopped. He is already losing ground. He has been losing ground important the last number of days and we are gaining and we are gaining big-time.

“What I'm asking all of you dig a little deeper, goes further, fight a little farther and on Monday we will stand up for Canada, we will stand up for your Canada, we will stand up for my Canada, we will stand up for our Canada and we will win,” the Prime Minister said.

As the Prime Minister Paul Martin clearly states, please if you want a national united party then vote for the Liberals and keep the Coservatives from getting into power, we need to stop Harper!

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!!

U.S. conservatives told to stay mum on election!!!!!!!

This seems really interesting, it clearly shows that the Republicans in America really do not want to scare off Canadians because they know if they open up there mouths then whatever they say my incriminate the Conservatives and send Canadian voters the real Conservative agenda.

There's an e-mail making the rounds of U.S. conservative groups, warning them not to talk to Canadian journalists before Monday's election for fear of scaring off voters and hurting Stephen Harper's chances.

And while right-wing commentator Paul Weyrich says he didn't actually write it, he agrees with the sentiments. The message, obtained by the New York Observer, says Weyrich received a call from a prominent Tory, Calgary lawyer Gerald Chipeur, who asked him to avoid interviews with Liberal-friendly journalists trying to link Harper with "scary" American groups. "He said the Canadian media, which is trying to save the current Liberal government, has a strategy of calling conservatives in the U.S.A. in the hopes that someone will inadvertently say something that can be hung around the Conservatives," the e-mail reads.

"Canadian voters have been led to believe that American conservatives are scary and if the Conservative party can be linked with us, they perhaps can diminish a Conservative victory."
Weyrich said the e-mail was the product of an overzealous staffer who works for him. Weyrich heads the Free Congress Foundation, a conservative research group. It was apparently widely distributed, he said, adding that he never actually spoke to Chipeur, who did not return phone calls Friday.

Meanwhile, Canadian environmentalist Elizabeth May sent an e-mail to her U.S. counterparts last week urging them to write news releases expressing concern about Harper and send them to journalists north of the border. May, the Sierra Club executive director, told the Globe and Mail that she asked for help out of frustration because there's little media coverage of Harper's position on global warming.

Once more, even though my good friend Mr Yugunter will deny this, it clearly depicts that the Republicans in the states are trying not to entangle themselves with the Conservative party in Canada but to bad George W Harper because the link actually does exist.

Please Canadian voters, on January 23, 2006 please vote Liberals and do not let George W Bushs soon to be best friend become the prime minister of Canada, please take this serious.

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!!!!!

ACCOUNTABILITY EH HARPER?????

It seems like George W Harper is now following the lead that he had told to his Conservative candidates which is to avoid the media so they do not end up sticking there foot in there mouth.

Conservative Leader Stephen Harper today refused to do a formal question and answer period with the media, suggesting he does not want to scare off voters by having his extreme socially conservative agenda exposed before Monday’s general election. “Stephen Harper says he believes in open and accountable government. But now, he'll no longer make himself available to the press," Prime Minister Paul Martin said after Mr. Harper’s refusal to provide the media with access to him.

Mr. Harper has joined several of his candidates in hiding from the media, a move that was reported on by Carolyn Dunn of the CBC this morning. “Unfortunately we're not going to be able to ask Stephen Harper any questions directly today because there is no media availability on his campaign today. And what we're being told is that we may or may not get an informal scrum on the plane…which we don't expect to fly until tomorrow so you'll get a lot of his messaging through his speeches like the one we just heard, but not a big likelihood of questions going to him in these last couple of days of the campaign.”

Mr. Harper’s spokesperson, Carolyn Stewart Olsen, said Harper no longer has time for formal question-and-answer periods. Faced with daily revelations of his extreme conservative agenda, Mr. Harper is refusing to meet with the media in a bid to avoid further exposure of his radical right-wing policies.

Mr. Harper has spent the week muzzling the socially conservative views of his candidates and has now taken the final step of muzzling himself.

This, despite the Conservative leader having vowed an open and accountable government will be one of his priorities if he becomes Prime Minister."Stephen Harper says he wants members of Parliament to play a greater role in Parliament. He says he wants them to have a greater say, a greater voice. All the time, that is, except during an election campaign," the Prime Minister said."For the past month, Mr. Harper has had to keep many of his Conservative members in hiding. The reason is very clear. He doesn't want his Conservative candidates to tell Canadians what they stand for. He doesn't want them to say what they believe. He doesn't want them to say what they'd be working for if Stephen Harper ever formed a government."

Canadians should ask themselves, is this a sign of things to come? Honestly, why is Mr Harper avoiding to speak to the Canadian people, please just look at this and see exactly what it is. Basically, the Conservatives are so worried that there real program may be released to the people vis a vis interviews with the media so they just do not have any media time.

This clearly shows that the Conservatives are hiding there real views from the Canadian people, on January 23rd, 2006 please Canada vote for the Liberal party and do not let the Conservatives come to power!

Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Harper Muzzling Local Candidates!!!!!!!!

Well, it seems that Mr. Harper for some reason is hiding his candidates. He does not let them talk to the media, especially the candidates that have socially conservative ideas on women rights and same sex rights. Please listen to me, alot of the Conservative candidates are being hidden from the Canadian public, my question is mainly why is Harper hiding these people now, what is he hiding from us all, he did sign the nomination papers for all these candidates so why is he hiding them now?

Stephen Harper denies he is muzzling his candidates from expressing their true opinions on social issues. A number of Conservative candidates have been muzzled by Stephen Harper and are not attending debates or responding to media.

Bob Dechert – Mississauga Erindale: Where's Bob Dechert? That was the big question asked repeatedly in Mississauga-Erindale on Wednesday as federal candidates faced a predominantly student audience at the University of Toronto's Mississauga campus. Dechert, the Conservative candidate, was a no-show for the debate, one of only a few public opportunities for candidates to square off in this campaign.

Harold Albrecht - Kitchener-Conestoga: Yesterday, Conservative candidate Harold Albrecht, known for his controversial views on gay marriage, was hustled away from reporters and into a banquet-hall kitchen yesterday where handlers refused to bring him out. "He's in a meeting,'' a Tory official insisted, pushing a door closed as Albrecht stood next to empty dish racks.

Rob Anders – Calgary-West: Calgary-West Conservative candidate Rob Anders was invited to take part in an all candidates forum. He declined the invitation and was not there. Neither he nor his campaign manager returned repeated calls. A visit by CTV to his campaign office also failed to find him. A spokesperson for the Conservative party, Steven Carter said Anders was in B.C. campaigning for candidate Derek Zeisman.

Rondo Thomas – Ajax-Pickering: Conservative candidate Rondo Thomas skipped a debate in Toronto, but the anti-same-sex marriage comments he made on a controversial video resonated throughout Pickering Recreation Centre last night at a televised all-candidates meeting. Thomas also missed a debate on January 10, 2006.

Patrick Brown – Barrie: Conservative candidate Patrick Brown pulled out of a national CBC all-candidate town hall, after his campaign had initially indicated otherwise. He has subsequently pulled out of a TV Ontario all-candidates debate.

Rakesh Khosla – Halifax-West: CBC television reported that Halifax-West Conservative Candidate Rakesh Khosla has mysteriously disappeared and his campaign staff was unable to tell the media of his whereabouts. This follows his refusal to speak with media about a meeting he had with fundamentalist religious groups. His website no longer contains his schedule.

Cheryl Gallant – Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke: Subsequent to recent media reports of violations of Canada’s Privacy laws, Conservative MP and the candidate in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke has failed to attend an editorial board, all candidates debates and is refusing to speak with any national reporters.

Darrel Reid – Richmond: The Conservative candidate has declined interview requests from the Vancouver Sun, did not participate in an on-air debate with CBC earlier this week, and declined to be interviewed by BCTV for a riding profile. Earlier this week, in an effort to get Reid to comment on allegations being leveled at him by his political rivals, Reid twice gave assurances to the Richmond News he would call. When his handlers insisted on knowing what the questions were, Reid reneged on that promise.

CBC reports that social conservative groups are putting their issues on the back burner during the election campaign so long as it means the Conservative party has a better chance of winning. "They have to talk this way to get elected," said Link Byfield, chairman of the Citizens Centre for Freedom and Democracy.

Hermina Dykxhoorn, president of the Alberta Federation of Women United for Families, says she's willing not to talk about those issues during the election if it means electing a Conservative government.

To wrap up this post, all I have to say is what I started off with, Mr. Harper, you signed your candidates’ nomination papers. What are you so afraid of? Canadian people please realize that yes indeed the Conservatives are hiding something and if they elected then it will come into the limelight. Please on January 23rd, 2006 vote Liberals and please do not let women rights and same sex rights fall into the hands of Mr. Bush soon to be new best friend.

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHY IS HARPER HIDING CHERYL GALLANT!!!!!!

Hello to the Canadian voters, please can George W Harper finally unveil this Cheryl Gallant to the Canadian people and finally letting her talk. I guess Harper does not want her to talk because she would probably just stick her foot into her mouth.

Under the cover of darkness last Saturday, January 14th, Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party sent the national media on their way while Mr. Harper made a quick pit stop to support his Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke candidate, Cheryl Gallant. The Conservative Party did not inform any media outlets about the stop, and they did not highlight it on their schedule.

The Conservative Party was happy to share a photo of the stop with the Eganville Leader (see here: http://www.eganvilleleader.com/J18a.PDF), but they were not happy with the idea that the national media would see Mr. Harper with Ms. Gallant.

On a day when the Conservatives are furiously trying to quell the growing evidence they would restrict a woman’s right to choose, Mr. Harper has been found out. He was happy to give his most vocal anti-abortion candidate a plug locally, as long as no one found out.

Could it be that Mr. Harper does not want Ms. Gallant’s opinions to be known to the electorate?
Ms. Gallant has made no secret of her socially-conservative opinions:“We saw that young American have his head literally cut off in front of the cameras, but what's happening down there is absolutely no different!” (Cheryl Gallant, comparing the beheading of an American to an abortion clinic, CBC Television, May 13, 2004)

“On the other side of the spectrum was Ms. Gallant, who explained to the audience she believes strongly life begins at conception and ends at death. She added the Canadian Alliance will deal with morality issues such as abortion with referendums, which would likely be held during election times. ‘When a referendum is held, my ballot will not be in favour of abortion,'’ she said.” (Cheryl Gallant, Pembroke Daily Observer, November 23, 2000)

"Well-known Conservative MPs like Stockwell Day, Jason Kenney, and Cheryl Gallant are on record opposing women's right to choose and would likely become Cabinet ministers in a Harper government. Cheryl Gallant has gone as far to say that she would definitely push a private members bill on abortion." (Canada Newswire June 18, 2004)

Again, this clearly shows that Cheryl Gallant and George W Harper are not the ones to be leading Canada as there right win socially conservative agenda is just not going to work with the rest of Canada. Please Harper, let Cheryl Gallant talk to the Canadian voters, why are you hiding this candidate Mr. Harper?

Please Canadian voters, on January 23rd 2006 vote for the party that relates more to women values than the Conservatives. Plain and simple please vote for the Liberals.

LISTEN UP CANADIAN WOMEN VOTERS!!!!

The true Conservative agenda is finally being unveiled to the Canadian people as they are slowly tripping up. First, Peter Mackay the Conservative MP and deputy Conservative leader clearly stated in a radio talk show that he just wants Alexa the famous NDP woman to just "knit." That right there describes to all Canadians that the Conservatives are being discriminatory to women rights. I will clearly outline more of this in the following.

Quoted from Liberal.ca
Conservative Revenue Critic Jason Kenney told an anti-choice audience that upholding a woman’s right to choose is anti-democratic just eight months ago. "Those of us who believe in the sanctity of human life are the true champions of democracy," Mr. Kenney told Alberta Pro-Life at its Life 2005 conference held April 29-30, 2005.

A society which may have the outward appearance of being a democracy but which systematically violates these inalienable rights can become, and I quote John Paul the Second, 'a tyrant state'," Mr. Kenney said.

Mr. Kenney also starkly outlined the contrasting approaches that Conservative Leader Stephen Harper and Prime Minister Paul Martin would take in protecting a woman's right to choose.

Mr. Kenney is a senior advisor to Conservative Leader Stephen Harper's team and has acted as the Deputy House Leader in the Conservative caucus.

If such a senior member of Mr. Harper's team believes that a failure to restrict a woman’s right to choose is undemocratic and fully expects private members legislation to pass restricting this right, how can anyone trust Mr. Harper and the Conservatives on this issue?

Again, clearly this quote from the liberal web-site depicts that Conservatives are against women rights, thanks and bye. On January 23rd, 2006 please vote for the Liberals as they stand for women rights and for rights of all Canadians.

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!!

CONSERVATIVES ARE HIDING SOMETHING!!!!

Hello to all the Canadian people, please listen to what I am about to tell you. The Conservatives are hiding something, what there hiding is pretty simple to figure out. Like my past posts, the Conservatives are a reform party disguised. Notice during this election that alot of the Conservative candidates purposely did not attend there specific debates, reason being is because George W Harper had ordered it. He did not want anyone say something stupid which makes sense but if you think about it, they did not attend there respective debates because they are hiding something part of there agenda.

Quoted from CTV.ca
Liberal Leader Paul Martin is accusing Conservative Leader Stephen Harper of keeping his socially conservative candidates in hiding."It's been a long time since (Stephen Harper) has allowed them to go outside, and they are getting cabin fever," Martin told a crowd of Liberal supporters in St. John's, NL.

He named Conservative hopefuls such as Cheryl Gallant, Rob Anders, Rob Merrifield and Harold Albrecht as candidates who have a hidden social agenda.

Martin said Albrecht -- known for his staunch anti-gay marriage views -- was hustled away from reporters at a recent Conservative campaign event in Kitchener, Ont.,. and put into a banquet hall kitchen.

If the Conservatives are elected, Martin asked what would happen to candidates with socially conservative views."Are these social conservatives going to stay in hiding, or are they going to come out for the spring thaw?"

After reading what was directly taken from the CTV website, the Liberals have clearly shown what they are about and for some reason the Conservatives are keeping quiet, please on January 23, 2006 VOTE FOR THE LIBERALS

CHOOSE YOUR CANADA!!!

Well, it seems like Canadians are not really listening to what the Liberals are saying and for some reason they are listening to the made up rhetoric that the Conservatives are telling the Canadian people. I am going to list some information that might help you in making up your mind on January 23rd to either vote Liberal or Conservative.

Quoted from the Toronto Star:
The Liberals have struck a healthy balance managing relations with the United States. Canadian troops are in Afghanistan fighting terror. But we did not follow the U.S. into a war in Iraq on a false premise. And Martin resisted fierce U.S. pressure toaccept a bad softwood lumber deal.

It would be wrong to exaggerate the differences between the rather conservative Liberals under Martin and the relatively liberal-sounding Conservatives under Harper. But those that do exist are very real.

For Canadians who believe in progressive, activist government, the Liberals are a better choice than the Conservatives. They would take a more resolutely Canadian stance on the world scene. They are the more credible economic stewards. They offer more for cities and the environment. They offer the better mix of tax relief and services for all people.

The Liberals are still stirred by the idea that Canada must strive to be not only a richer society, but also a more just and compassionate one. The Star shares that vision.

THAT IS WHY THE LIBERALS ARE OUR CHOICE!

Well, the Toronto Star supports the Liberals so why don't you, please support the Liberal party on January 23, 2006 as they are the best choice because we cannot handle another torrid Mulroney reign but this time with Harper.

GO LIBERALS GO!!!!!

DO NOT VOTE HARPER IN!!!!

I can see that some people are being misled by the Conservative power. Please understand everyone that this is not the Progressive Conservatives. This is a reform party disguised, Harper has successfully pulled the cloth over Canadian eyes and we need to remove it by January 23rd, we really need to preserve Canada with a liberal win.

Just look at it, these are reforms, these are not the Progressive Conservatives. If the Conservatives were to win then look who would become the Minister of Foreign Affairs, it would be none other than Stockwell Day, again Canada be really careful on how you vote on January 23rd, 2006, we cannot afford to have Day as a minister in the cabinet.

Lastly, to have Harper as Prime Minister it would lead Canada to become the brother of George W Bush like no one has before. Harper clearly said "the United States are our Nation", please believe me when I say this, vote Liberals because Paul Martin believes that the states is our neighbor but not our nation. We have no reason to be fighting in a war in Iraq which does not concern us, Bush's reason for being in Iraq is unjustified. Believe me, if Harper is elected then Canadian troops will be deployed into Iraq for no justified reason at all.

I urge you to please vote LIBERAL on January 23, 2006. Please keep what I have said in mind when you are visiting the ballot box, please do not just vote for the Conservatives because you want to punish the liberals, in an upcoming post, I will try to explain why you shouldn't be upset with the current liberals because of past problems, bye.

LISTEN UP CANADIAN VOTERS!!!

Everyone, please listen carefully to what I am about to say. Please do not vote in the Conservatives on January 23, 2006 because if George W Harper is elected as Prime Minister then Canada will be ruinied. Please, just look at how well Canada has been going in the past 12 years or so, the economy is great, there is no deficit. We have a big surplus, if we were to elect the Conservatives in then we would be taking a big step backwords.

The Conservatives have promised alot, to be exact they have promised 196 promises. In order for them to fulfill all these promises, they would have to run a deficit of about 22 Billion dollars. I understand you may be upset at the liberal party but please do not vote in the Conservatives. I plead to you all on January 23, 2006 to vote LIBERAL.

As well, to Quebec, the Liberal party is the only hope as a federalist party in Quebec, please do not rely on the Conservatives for any help because they will not come through for you in any way.

I plead once more that if you are planning to vote NDP to punish the liberals, please consider that you would rather have a party in the house that you can co-operate with like you did before with the other Liberal minority government. I urge you all to not split the vote because if you do then a George W Harper government will be voted in.

To the people in Ontario, you have great Liberal MPs representing you so why would you take out your frustrations on how you feel about the liberal party nationally on your Liberal candidate. I can tell you that Liberal MPs are great and care for there constituents like no one else can. I urge you to not vote on the Liberal name but vote on your candidate.

Thanks in advance for reading this and please I hope you get the message that I clearly have stated here, I will post again soon to reinterate what I just typed here, bye.
